Fairview Neighborhood Plan

From the early 1990s to 2009, the Fairview Community Council led a planning effort that culminated in the Draft Fairview Community Plan. In 2013, the Fairview Community Council contracted Agnew::Beck to help move the plan to approval by the Anchorage Planning and Zoning Commission and adoption by the Anchorage Assembly. Agnew::Beck revised and distilled the Draft Plan, confirmed the updates with the community and the community council is now carrying the plan through the approval process. Outreach activities Agnew::Beck engaged in include participation in the Fairview Block Party, an online survey, community council presentations and direct work with the Fairview Community Council and Fairview Business Association leadership. Agnew::Beck also worked closely with the Municipality of Anchorage Long Range Planning Division to ensure that the Neighborhood Plan conformed to the requirements of Municipal Code. In addition to updating the Fairview Neighborhood Plan, Agnew::Beck developed an accompanying “Guidemap” to concisely and graphically portray Fairview goals and actions at a glance. The approval and adoption process is ongoing.
