Last week, Inger and Jon got to travel to St. Paul Island, one of the Pribilof Islands, to train Aleut Community of St. Paul Island Government staff on how to use, maintain and grow their new language & culture website,TanamAwaa.com.
The Aleut Community of Saint Paul Island, one of the 14 recipients of the Institute of Museums and Library Services’ Native American Library Services Enhancement Grants, worked with A::B staff to develop a comprehensive website to help local and off-Island Unangan (Aleut) community members, as well as all others interested in Unangan history, access information on traditional practices, language, family histories, art, and culture.The website contains information on Aleut people, events of historic importance, language, and customary tools and practices.
